International racer Matt Brabham will head back to Australia this weekend for the latest installment of the Speed Energy Stadium Super Trucks series at Barbagallo Raceway, Western Australia.
Brabham returns “home” to Australia fresh from victory at Long Beach last month where he extended his championship lead to 35 points.
Last year, Barbagallo Raceway was the venue for Brabham’s Australian Supercars Championship debut, where he took the reins of the #3 Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport Holden Commodore, in addition to his duties with Stadium Super Trucks.
It was a solid outing for Brabham who had never been behind the wheel of a Supercar before, dealing with the increased physical strain of competing in two different categories and having back-to-back races.
Brabham finished the 2017 Stadium Super Trucks Barbagallo weekend on the podium with a third place overall.
Following this weekend, the dual USA and Australian resident will remain in Australia for the Supercars Winton Motor Raceway event (May 18-20).
Brabham’s PIRTEK Enduro Cup co-driver duties continue with the Preston Hire Racing Team where he will return behind the wheel of the #18 Holden at Winton Motor Raceway.
Brabham will pair up with Preston Hire Racing’s Lee Holdsworth for the PIRTEK Enduro Cup, commencing with the Sandown 500, September 14-16.
The three round campaign continues at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 October 5-7, his second appearance at the mountain this year following his Class C victory for The Boat Works Racing Team at the Bathurst 12 Hour with Tony Longhurst and Aaron Seton.
The PIRTEK Enduro Cup wraps up on the streets of Surfers Paradise with the Vodafone Gold Coast 600, October 19-21.
Australian and New Zealand residents can watch all of the Stadium Super Trucks action on FOX Sports this weekend, while those outside of Australia can watch live on their website (http://stadiumsupertrucks.
Brabham’s 2018 campaigns are supported by the Preston Group, DeVilibiss, Gale Pacific, Coolaroo, The Boat Works, PIRTEK and the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation, of which he is a proud ambassador.
WHAT MATT HAS TO SAY …
“It is nice to be heading to Perth with the championship lead. We just need to ensure we come away from there with it intact,” said Brabham.
“Barbagallo Raceway is a cool track and I guess is a little significant for me because it is where I made my Supercar debut with LDM last year.
“The surface has always been a little different because of the amount of sand that blows on to the track, but that can make these things even a little more fun to drive.
“We are looking forward to putting on a hell of a show for the fans who are becoming more and more knowledgeable about the series and its drivers.”
“My PIRTEK Enduro Cup co-driver duties are ramping up, and I’m very excited to get behind the wheel of the Preston Hire Racing Holden again when we get to Winton.”
