Fresh off his Pirelli World Challenge outing with the DeVilbiss GT3 team two weeks ago, Matt Brabham is ready to defend his Stadium SUPER Trucks championship lead at Road America in Wisconsin on Saturday.
The international driver has a commanding 30-point lead over the Stadium SUPER Trucks field with three events remaining in the Championship.
The 24-year old knows how important it is to keep building his tally having come runner-up in the Championship last year by a single point to compatriot Paul Morris.
The legendary road course has a storied history with the Brabham name, with Matt’s grandfather (Sir Jack), father (Geoff) and uncle (David) all having links with the venue.
Geoff and David have had multiple wins and podiums at the circuit across numerous categories, including IndyCar and IMSA.
Matt first raced at the Road America circuit in 2012 where he had two race wins and a third in a 29-car field on the way to his maiden US F2000 championship.
In the break between events, the Stadium SUPER Truck Championship has confirmed that the season finale will take place in San Bernardino, California at Glen Helen Raceway (November 30 – December 1).
This confirms the 2018 Championship will finish as it started, on the dirt in California.
This weekend the Stadium SUPER Trucks will support the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Road America, with races on Friday and before the road course race on Saturday.
Matt’s 2018 campaigns are supported by DeVilbiss, the Preston Group, Gale Pacific, Coolaroo, The Boat Works, PIRTEK and the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation, of which he is a proud ambassador.
WHAT MATT HAD TO SAY…
“It’s been awhile since I’ve been in the truck, the last time was in Texas. Texas was a mix of everything – dirt, big jumps and tarmac and to come away with a win on the Sunday was great,” said Brabham.
“Last year we lost out the title by one point, so I’m definitely hungry to go that one step further.
“I’m looking forward to getting out there at Road America, it’s always fun to get back in the DeVilbiss truck.
“Two weeks ago I was in the DeVilbiss Mercedes AMG-GT3 which is totally different to these trucks, but was another chance to get some experience.
“I want to go into this weekend and make the most out of it, and hopefully keep building my points lead.”
